I now blog over on my own site http://deek.sixrooms.com if you want to see what I'm up to.

I took this two variable test, and yeah... I agree with it.

Very Well-Rounded

You have:
62% SCIENTIFIC INTUITION and
70% EMOTIONAL INTUITION
The graph on the right represents your place in Intuition 2-Space. As you can see, you scored above average on emotional intuition and above average on scientific intuition. (Weirdly, your emotional and scientific intuitions are equally strong.)

Your Emotional Intuition score is a measure of how well you understand people, especially their unspoken needs and sympathies. A high score score usually indicates social grace and persuasiveness. A low score usually means you're good at Quake.

Your Scientific Intuition score tells you how in tune you are with the world around you; how well you understand your physical and intellectual environment. People with high scores here are apt to succeed in business and, of course, the sciences.

Stonehenge
Is Carmen Sandiego!

Used to love that game - it was part of the reason I knew where Reykjavik was. (Iceland by the by).

But I have a feeling that several of my friends are wondering about me. Where I am, why haven't I emailed, IMed, answered a phone...

Yeah... guess... I am IN a play! Yep, that's right. After making up and costuming several other shows I was called to fill a role that someone else had abandoned a mere month before curtain. It is a very fun and exciting role - Lady Bracknell from Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. Let me just say it has been wonderful. I missed the stage more than I even realized.

Well, suffice to say that I am busy, since curtain goes up on Friday, and auditors come in on Wednesday next week... but I did take time out to... BECOME AN AUNTIE AGAIN! My sister had her baby boy on Friday April 14th at 11:18 pm - he waited till his Aunt Dannah could get there to make his entrance. I call him piglet because he kind of squealed like a little pig when he was born - I was listening at the door... but his real name is Cody and was 6.65 lbs and 20 inches long... he's got long skinny fingers to go with his long skinny body and feet! He's just as precious as precious can be!

Ok, well, I am getting ready to go to a concert tonight... Celtic Women - one of my all time favorite groups if not my favorite - is playing in Birmingham tonight and my wonderful dear husband got me tickets to the show! *claps hands bounces across the room and does several flips before limping back to the keyboard* Oy... not as young as I used to be... I'll get some pictures up from the show (and of course to show off what I am wearing) and post them soon!

Slainte agus tainte! (Health and Wealth to you non-Gaelic speakers)

It is a fine day for the wearing of the green, and a day that everyone celebrates being Irish, even if they aren't Irish themselves!

So, for at least one day a year, I am just like everyone else sort of...

Now, most people know that I am Irish by decent and by the crazy sense of "belonging"... though I claim my Cherokee heritage as well, so I am a good mix like most Americans. The thing about me though is I like to know more than just the surface level of a holiday sooo here is your St. Patrick's Day review.

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland credited for being the first to bring Christianity to Ireland and for "driving the serpents out" of the Emerald Isles. This is not exactly true. Ireland has never had serpents, but the symbolism is potent when you realize that many pagan religions worshiped serpents as deities. So, driving the serpents out of Ireland actually refers to him leading people away from the Pagan practices to some extent.

Now, St. Patrick was born in Britain/Wales to a Roman official Calpurnius who also was a deacon of the church and a wealthy man. When Patrick was about sixteen years old, he was taken captive by Irish raiders and enslaved in County Mayo for about six years. Based on a vision, he fled from Ireland back to Britain where he had another vision telling him to go back to Ireland as a missionary. He went to train to be a priest, and went back to Ireland where he met the Druids at Tara and used the shamrock as a visual aid to explain the Holy Trinity so the legend goes.

This being said, you can see why in Ireland, up until 1970, St. Patrick's Day was a holy day the morning spent in church, and the evening spent feasting on bacon and cabbage a break from Lent for the devout Catholics of Ireland. The parades and the debauchery didn't occur until the Irish Emigrants in America stepped in.

During the potato famine in 1845 when the Catholic Irish Emigrants joined the Protestant Irish in America, the marching of the Irish on March 17 took on a new outlook. They marched in the streets, politiced, and even did a wee bit of drinking NOW in Ireland Dublin (meaning black water by the way) hosts the largest St. Patty's Day celebration lasting 100 hours typically. There is singing, dancing, parades, drinking, and more partying think of it as the Irish Marti Gras.

The tradition of wearing of the Green signifies the belonging to Ireland the Irish flag is Green White and Orange When America won her independence from Jolly Ole England, the Irish thought it might be time to follow suit and, they were not allowed to wear green or to wear a shamrock In fact, if you had any green on, you'd be shot as an insurrectionist! Dion Boucicault wrote a song called "The Wearing of the Green" that gives more insight into the tradition.

All in all, since this post is getting very wordy, St. Patrick's Day isn't just about wear green or get pinched, it's about a nationality of people who refused to give up who they were because someone told them to. They are the mules of modern society stubborn and proud.

So, wear your green, lift a glass of Guinness and "ireann go Brch!" (Ireland Forever!)

Stonehenge
Today is the day of dire straights, where life of prophecy comes to forbearance... for it was the soothsayer in Shakespeare that sayeth... BEWARE! THE IDES OF MARCH!!!

Many many years ago... Caesar lost his life to his "friend" Brutus with those immortal words... "Et tu, Brute?"  So now, I carry on this soothsayer's tradition, and give my own prophecy of doom and gloom!

For every reply to this post, I will give you a prophetic warning on what to watch for on this cursed day of days... heed this warning well, and you might survive the day...

For example:  Since I am writing this, I shall warn myself first... because I am egocentric like that...

Dannah - Beware the ides of March!  For on this day of tweened realities, discordance shall happen!  If you are to touch a strand of fibre for thoughts of creative purposes, it shall be your doom!  For seven times seven days you will experience the pain of a cut made even sharper than that of paper by the strand of a string.  Thus say I, and thus warned are you... BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH!!!

17th-Aug-2005 04:20 pm - Cool Surprise
Stonehenge
So, I got married back in November of last year, so... ten months back, and I am still getting wedding presents.  Most times I am not all that thrilled because as an established working woman who has owned a house, I didn't really need anything.  I felt bad about people giving me towels, dishes, and what-not because I had a house full already.  I got over it though because there is some neat stuff out there!  What I really wanted was just people to have fun at my wedding and think back on it and go - "that was cool."

Now, I understand about giving gifts.  I love to give pressies to people.  But, like I said, it's been ten months, and I just got a wedding present.  I have to say though, this one isn't like the usual present.  First there was the embroidered tea towel, a picture frame, and then the really cool thing.  A binder
filled with recipes that this lady collected for years. She also burned them all onto a CD so they can be stored on the computer as well.  What is so cool about this is 1) I am a computer geek and 2) I LOVE to cook.  So the one thing I can't get enough of is cook books.

Also, I have started dreaming about the next house my husband and I get.  I think we have decided to get some land and build because well... it seems like a great adventure!  And besides wiring the whole house with cad-5 (ethrnet cable) and building in a nice sized switch and wireless network I was thinking that I want to have a little secretary desk in a nook by the kitchen where we can put the bills and a laptop for all my recipes and such... so yeah, this gift fits right in!

Ok, enough gushing.  I should be working on an intrusion detection document, but I am not getting inspired right now on it. After spending 5 hours researching the latest worm (zotob.a-g if you are wondering) and doing a massive write-up on it, I think Clio - (one of the nine Greek muses) went to bed on me!  Well, I guess I'll go back to staring at a white page.

Slante!
